In 2005 County Commissioners successfully applied for an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Ohio Coordination Program Grant of $64,000. |
The proposed Coordination project was recommended by an Interagency Task Force which consisted of forty (40) agencies and organizations. This was led by a seven (7) member Steering Committee appointed by the Butler County Commissioners. |
The Steering Committee met numerous times to produce a practical action plan for an effective, efficient, coordinated approach to meeting current and future local and regional transportation needs for Butler County citizens, agencies, and businesses. |
A core group of nine (9) interested stakeholder organizations was established by the Steering Committee to develop 2006 project goals and to address related action items in-order to implement a coordination project for 2006. This core group developed into the Board of Directors for the Transit Alliance of Butler County. The Transit Alliance of Butler County is currently seeking its non-profit status. |
The Transit Alliance of Butler County call center tracks all trip requests and trip denials to provide input to the Transit Alliance of Butler County Board of Directors on unmet community need. The information serves as critical input into future planning, efforts and strategies since unmet need has not yet been systematically documented in Butler County. |
The Transit Alliance of Butler County call center looks for opportunities to coordinate same trip destinations, times, and purposes, and arranges transportation services for groups or multiple riders for trips which meet same or similar need profiles in order to reduce costs and/or increase affordability of passenger/contract fares. |
A call center has been established that brokers trips for partner providers, agencies, and the general public. Agencies and the general public call the center for a trip. The center matches the trip need with available seats that transportation providers “sell” through the center. |
